Success of the greats like the Sehwags and the Dhonis are quite enough to believe that the future of Indian cricket lies in our remotest villages.

In an initiative to find the raw talents, this summer CIDBI Loongs Academy is sending our scouts to interiors of the district in search for those special ones who could  spearhead fast bowling attack for India, or may be hit the winning six to grab the next world cup in the future!

Unlike last year, we are organising cricket camp at six venues:

1. Sree Kerala Varma College Ground, Thrissur
2. Veterinary College Ground Mannuthy
3. Govt. Fisheries School, Natika, Triprayar
4. G.V.H.S.S. Kadappuram, Chavakkad,
5. Bethany St. John’s H.S.S. Kunnamkulam
6. Al Ameen HSS, Kechery

The camps will be conducted by our own coaching staff and is open to students of all ages as we are focusing mainly on finding good athletes from the coastal belt.

The aim will be to teach basics of batting, bowling, fielding & wicket keeping and the students will for the first time get a chance to practice under professional bowling machines in a summer camp.

There will be a special fast bowlers clinic to help the budding speedsters. Equipped with imported speed guns , the academy is able to measure bowling speed and will identify and reward the fastest bowler in the camp in different age group categories.
The sessions will also cover theory classes on Umpiring, Diet & Nutrition and prevention of injuries. The academy will provide uniform for all students attending the camp and will also be organizing an Inter batch Tournament at end of camp.

For the schools with a good turnout, we will further assist in setting up necessary infrastructure including concrete wickets and nets to provide round the year coaching. This is a part of the academy’s school level cricket promotion plan called Loongs@Schools.

At the end of camp, we will be shortlisting few of the best students from financially backward families to support them with fully sponsored scholarships towards admission to the regular batch at the academy.

The fees for the summer camp 2013 will be INR 1500.

In 2012, Loongs Academy conducted summer coaching camp in two separate venues. The camp was attended by 186 students which was the highest participated cricket coaching event in Kerala during the year.

His consistent performance for Calicut University at the All India Inter University cricket tournament earned him a place in the team.

Vysakh’s allround performance (63 and 3-45) helped Thrissur’s CIDIBI Loongs Academy brush aside Thiruvalla’s Muthootu Mini CC by 112 runs in the K.T. Kerala Varma memorial Pooja knockout qualifying tournament on Sunday.

In another match, Aluva’s Globstar Telecom crushed Thrissur’s Sudharma Apex by 72 runs.
The scores: Globstar, Aluva 147 for eight (Rajilal 40) bt Sudharma Apex, Thrissur 75 (M.P. Manu four for 17).
